States with the highest average food expenses are Washington DC, Rhode Island, New York, Massachusetts, Colorado, California, Wyoming, Alaska, Florida, and Vermont.
States with the lowest average food expenses are Nevada, Arkansas, Mississippi, Iowa, Kansas, Indiana, Kentucky, Idaho, West Virginia, and Alabama.
There are significant differentiation regionally. Far West and New England are significantly higher than the rest, while Plains and Great Lakes are lowest.
